
Brian Wacker
BASS
Brian Wacker is a bass-baritone from Cheyenne, Wyoming. During his time as a student at Oberlin College and Conservatory, he studied voice with Timothy LeFebvre and conducting with Raphael Jiménez. Brian frequently performed as a vocalist in and around Oberlin, and in 2023 he was the co-conductor of the Arts and Sciences Chamber Collective Orchestra.
Most recently, Brian worked and performed with Sarasota Opera as an Apprentice Artist for the 2024 winter season. He enjoys a close working relationship with the Janiec Opera Company of the Brevard Music Center, where in summer of 2023 he performed roles in Verdi’s La traviata and Sondheim’s Into the Woods. He was invited back to Brevard for the role of Colline in Puccini’s La bohème during the summer of 2024. On the Oberlin opera stage, Brian performed in Cimarosa’s Il matrimonio segreto as Geronimo, and as Pangloss in Oberlin Opera Theater’s production of Candide by Leonard Bernstein.
In addition to stage work, Brian was the opera liaison and assistant director to Stephanie Havey for Oberlin’s production of Albert Herring by Benjamin Britten during the fall of 2023. He is excited to return to the Conservatory for the 2024-2025 year as Admissions Fellow. During this time he is engaged to perform with the Cleveland Chamber Choir on several concerts.
