
Val Sibila
SOPRANO
Val Sibila (pronouns xe/xem/xyrs), lyric coloratura soprano, has been praised for xyr exceptional vocal and musical versatility and xyr “clarion tone” with “ethereal splendor.” Val has performed as a soloist all around Northern Ohio, including J.S. Bach’s “Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme” and Mickey McGroarty’s Stray Birds for Choral Arts Cleveland, Gwyneth Walker’s The Great Lakes and Beethoven’s “Choral Fantasy” for Case Western Reserve University, Handel’s Messiah for Old Stone Church and Bluffton University, and recitals at Saint Clarence Church and Trinity Cathedral. Xe will be making xyr national debut this September at the Lexington Bach Festival in Lexington, Michigan as the Soprano II soloist in J.S. Bach’s Magnificat.
Val continuously sings solos and in ensembles with the Cleveland Chamber Choir and the Old Stone Singers, as well as singing and playing the piano for many other venues in the area. Xe achieved xyr Master of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music in January 2023, studying with Dr. Mary Schiller, with stage roles as Noémie in Massenet’s Cendrillon, Ruth in Daniel DiMarino’s Ruth, First Witch in Ernest Bloch’s Macbeth, and scenes as Gilda in Rigoletto, Oscar in Un ballo in maschera, Amy in Little Women, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, and Despina in Così fan tutte. Xe attained xyr Bachelor of Music degree from Kent State University.
