WE MARCH ON
March 7-8, 2020
The Cleveland Chamber Choir marked the 50th Anniversary of the May 4, 1970 shootings at Kent State University with We March On! Music of Social Justice. Music has long been a source of comfort, allowing the expression of frustration with the status quo and hope for a better world. This powerful concert presented music that memorializes, comforts, speaks truth to power, and illumines both injustice in the world as well as the just who are working to make the world a better place. Featured pieces included Joel Thompson’s The Seven Last Words of the Unarmed and music by British and American composers Ethyl Smythe, Linda Kachelmeier, and Catherine Dalton.
A portion of free-will donations was shared with Women For Women Ohio, in honor of Helen Tremaine Gregory.
